December 2022 Visit and Food Drop

Our most recent visit to Enkusero Sampu was focused on providing desperately needed food assistance.

Faced with an extended drought and global food chain disruption combined with unprecedented food price inflation, the residents were forced to sell off their only form of wealth - their cattle - at wholesale loss.  With little government assistance to rely on, and any hedge against disaster in the form of cattle and financial holdings lost, the people of Enkusero Sampu are facing a future of deprivation and famine.

Living in the remote area of Ngong Hills, where modern Kenya meets the quickly disappearing traditional Maasai pastoralist life, the people of Enkusero Sampu are in a particularly vulnerable, easily overlooked situation.

Only donations like yours keep the 150 families (1500 people) of Enkusero Sampu from deprivation and famine.

From generous donations from the congregation of Beachpoint Church in Orange County, Caliornia, we were able to provide thousands of dollars of food basics, mostly cornmeal to the residents of Enkusero Sampu.

We also distributed the cargo shipped from California to the residents of the village.  Among the items donated by our supporters and/or purchased in the States were badly needed items, such as cloth, a bicycle, baby clothes, and reusable sanitary pads, as well as the first delivery of books to establish the grammar school library.

During our December 2022 visit we held another annual village meeting, to hear the concerns of the residents, share successes as well as mourn losses, come up with future plans and solutions to current problems.

If you would like to help the people of Enkusero Sampu, please donate to our foundation, or email us to discuss how best you can help.  Hope for the Future Africa Inc and the people of Enkusero Sampu also gratefully accept your prayers for the survival and welfare of the Maasai people of Enkusero Sampu.

Hope for the Future Africa Inc distributing cornmeal and other food stuffs to the residents of Enkusero Sampu. December 2022.

We deliver the first shipment of donated books, establishing the grammar school library, where teachers can turn for reading resources and students can and enjoy real books.

Annual 'town hall' meeting where we are updated on the resident's lives and problems, share the latest efforts and developments, and celebrate triumphs together.

One such triumph: the attendance of 5 more girls to the state-run boarding high schools in region. Donations like yours provide the necessary uniform, transporatation and book scholarships that enable girls like these to pursue their education and avoid a future of FGM and forced early marriage.
